Soil Science – Data Collection

For each crop: 0-6 inch depth

• Available soil nutrients (N, P)
• Potentially mineralizable soil nutrients (C, N, P) (laboratory incubation)

Annually: 5 depths to 48 inches

• Changes in labile, organic, and total C
• Changes in total N and P

Preliminary Results

There were no significant differences in mineralizable C is Years 2 and 3.

However, there were decreases in available and mineralizable N in Years 2.

Decreases in available N and P are consistent with yield data.
More productive plants utilize more N and P leaving less available in the soil.
